    Fuckin' High Fidelity.

I'm a musician and music obsessive, so of course I appreciated the humor in this. It's an engaging enough story, too, made all the better by a fun cast (Jack Black is especially hilarious), and great dialog. Reminded me a little of Clerks, but in color and with a bigger budget.

This is probably gonna sound like a bad creepypasta, but it's an actual dream I had a few nights ago.

I had a dream that I was in a dark hotel room at night. The room was several floors up, and had a comfortable bed that was right next to a very large window. This window overlooked a quaint amusement park, in the center of which was a very old carousel, and from that window I had a very clear view of the carousel. So it's the dead of night, probably somewhere between midnight and 3 AM. I'm relaxing in my bed, my arms up behind my head. The TV was on and muted, and I had my head turned to look out the large window at the now-closed theme park. The carousel was bathed in moonlight, as were the other visible amusement park structures that surrounded it.

So I kept staring at this moonlit carousel. I stared at it for so long that everything around it started to disappear, until practically the only thing I could see was this dark carousel surrounded by endless shadows. Suddenly, the carousel began to move. It was slow at first, but it gradually picked up speed. My heart dropped as I watched the painted horses rotate around in a circle. I tried to rationalize in my head why this was happening. The park had been closed for hours, and it was way too early for the inspectors to be testing the rides.

Then I saw it. I didn't even notice it at first, but now I couldn't take my eyes off it. Sitting on one of the horses was an infant. There was an infant riding the carousel, and I could see it clear as day. It's skin was a disgusting shade of grey, and it was wearing a faded, stained, and tattered onesie. I nearly shit my pants. Then it turned its head and looked right at me. And it was fucking hideous. It basically had the face of an anglerfish. It had two big, glowing red eyes, and there was some dried blood under them. It had a huge mouth that was neatly filled with long, sharp teeth. It had two black holes where its nose should have been. I was so frozen with fear that I couldn't look away from it, and it kept staring me down as it rode around on the carousel.

Then, after a few rotations, I noticed that it wasn't coming back around. The carousel was still spinning, but the baby no longer re-emerged from the other side of the platform. Then I heard some rustling to my left, where the television was. I turned my head and then heard what can only be described as a cross between a cat screeching and a chainsaw. As soon as I heard that awful noise, the infant came charging at me from the other side of the room, leaped into the air, landed right on my chest, and began visciously ripping the flesh from my face with its sharp teeth.

Thankfully, I woke up right after that. And the funny thing is, I typically wake up pretty startled from nightmares like that, but I didn't this time. I actually woke up rather peacefully, because I realized that it was just a dream as soon as I opened my eyes. Still pretty damn weird, though. I haven't even been watching any horror movies lately.

  9. MaxwellChillington added a post in a topic Do you still own any VHS tapes?

    Hell yes I do.

Aside from the occasional Netflix movie, I watch VHS tapes almost exclusively. I never really liked DVDs. I hated the menus, disliked the fact that I couldn't skip the legal shit at the beginning, and was surprised at how easily they got damaged. Full disclosure, I'm a forgetful bastard, so I tend to leave audio and video media out of their respective cases for longer than I should. This is an awful habit if you own a lot CDs, DVDs, or LPs, but it's a more forgivable practice if you mostly use cassettes or VHS tapes, like I do.

I also like getting them from secondhand stores. At 99 cents a video, it's hard to resist, and I sometimes end up taking home 10 at a time.
