I never considered myself to be goth growing up even though I listened to a lot of 80s goth music and heavily identified with it. I did dye my hair black and listen to a bunch of the cure while maintaining a pessimistic attitude and a sense of longing. I did love tim burton. I suppose I was more gothic than I thought at the time.
While my favorite joy division song is atmosphere, I just think this song is 80s goth af. I actually didn't get into joy division much until college whereas I was big into the cure, the smiths and new order (which isn't really 80s goth but is basically Joy Division post the death of ian curtis). I saw a cool movie about Joy Division/New Order called 24 Hour People that I would recommend. Control was a pretty good bio movie of Ian Curtis as well.
This is good family music.
