Sonic the Hedgehog, or SatAM Sonic by fans aired on ABC in 1993. According to Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog artist Militon Knight, Archie was looking for ideas for a Sonic Comic they were making. DiC created Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, but Archie rejected it, saying it was too cartoony, though Scratch, Grounder, and Coconuts still appeared in some issues. This was also rejected by ABC for the same reasons.

Then Dic made another show after AOSTH was finished pre-production. It was about a group of freedom fighters fighting against a dic tator, Dr. Robotnik. Archie accepted it, and based their comic on SatAm. ABC also accepted it.

Unfortunately, SatAM never had a third season, because it was taken off the air before they could do it. SatAM story writer Ben Hurst said the red eyes at the end of the final episode, The Doomsday Machine, were Naugus's. He also explained how the rest of the third season was going to be. He mentioned Sonic and Tails becoming closer friends (Like in AOSTH), and Tails getting a special power. Then there was Snively joining the Freedom Fighters, and Naugas rises to power. Ben hopes that Dic and Sega could get together again to air that 3rd season. No announcement yet if any plans are being planned.

Further information[edit]

  • This show has a large rabid fanbase who wants desperately another season.
  • Some background music from AoSTH was used in the pilot (listen for it in the scenes with Muttski and when Robotnik wants the power rings while threating Sonic, Tails and Rotor). The Nostalgia Critic has also confimed to really, really like this cartoon of Sonic the Hedgehog over *sigh* "That Other Show".
