The YouChew Chewbucks Shop
I am pleased to announce that the YC Shop is open!
In the Points menu, you can now purchase items, trade items with other users, and much more. The interface is fairly straightforward and self-explanatory.
There are an assortment of basic items for sale now, and we'll be sure to add more later.
Some of the items demand that the you give the item to a moderator in order for you to use its effect. Simply send the item to a mod and alert that mod that you want to use the item. He or she will then use the mod tools to produce the desired effect. Most, if not all, of these kinds of items will have zany temporary effects on the forum and on other users. Have fun with them!
A general note in case you didn't know: You earn points by giving and receiving positive feedback on posts. Giving negative feedback costs points. Receiving positive feedback also boosts your reputation score, which is visible on your profile page. Some items manipulate reputation scores.
Of course, if you have any questions, you can raise them here.
Furthermore, if you have ideas for items, you can feel free to post them here. In the future, I hope to develop some system in which users can implement items for use with events or contests they are running. If you want to do something that might be made better with the help of an item, let me know.63
Awesome. I'll start saving up for something that's shiny and smells good, like a nuclear device. Then I'll detonate it somewhere no one cares about, like Idaho.
None of these look like something I inspired, but... I'd be the first to buy lamp oil, rope, and bombs, if you ever added those.14
I really don't think having items that let other members change the name or avatars of another member, even if only for 24 hours, is a good idea!
Would be nice to add some items to make your profile do something though! Even something as stupid as adding music to it would be nice although that might not be a very good idea either.
Yeah, if someone ends up getting their name changed without their consent (that is, if it works without their permission to do so), they might not be able to log in until they either figure out what their name was changed to or until the 24 hour period is over.
Yeah, the Paper Bag and Paintbucket items sound like they're too easy to abuse.3
I would love this even more if items had the properties of some real-life games. For example, you can buy an item & put in an amount of points then trade it to another person, having the item set to be traded to a limit you specify. Then that person trades it to another person, that trades it to another person, & so forth until the trade limit is reached & the last person who gets it receives the points! This makes giving points fun! But you can't trade the item to someone who already received it. And the trade limit will be a secret to the people it gets traded to.
I want to buy a pornographic film for Billion.
We've been happily married for 5 years and I think this can spruce it up a bit.
Oh sure, it starts with pornos, then we're selling whips and handcuffs, next thing you know the shop is full of spaghetti scented anal beads and Robotnik shaped dildos.6
