The Irate Gamer gets hacked!
The Irate Gamer perhaps needs no introduction to those who grew up on YouTube in the late 2000s, particularly within the video game-reviewing scene. While often written off as a pale imitation of the Angry Video Game Nerd, others would argue that he found his own identity as a valid, worthwhile game reviewer — with his videos often serving as classic YouTube Poop fodder. In 2020, he would even have the honor of collaborating with the AVGN, in the form of latter’s cameo featured in IG’s Dick Tracy review.
Alas, it was found that as of December 18, 2024, his channel was hacked and taken over by an unknown group, with videos being replaced by crypto discussion videos/streams. Regardless of one’s thoughts on the Irate Gamer, hacking channels, especially ones dating back to the vintage days of YouTube, is a regrettable act of spite, and one can only hope that the administration of YouTube will restore his videos promptly.
Thankfully, at least a sizeable portion of his videos have already been archived over the years. Listing them all would be too cumbersome, but suffice to say that the videos are there, and more archives of his videos are bound to be uploaded in the wake of the channel’s downtime.
